Raiders Broadcast -the Alternative Music Station.
Ever since it’s inception as a London based un-licensed FM station 30
years ago, Raiders has always had a unique and evolving music policy.
Founder Mike Summers’ original vision was to create an alternative rock
and pop format, to contrast with the predictable mainstream. As a non
profit making station, Raiders has had the freedom to pick the best
presenters with specialist knowledge, large personal music collections
and original, varied styles of broadcasting.

Today as an online only station, Raiders Broadcast has a growing global
profile. While providing a lively coverage of UK Chart based hits, the
station has always recognised the importance of Rock music as the first
popular music form to have a global impact, since the advent of US Rock
and Roll in the 50s and UK Rock and Pop in the 60s spearheaded by the
Beatles. All styles have been represented from the 70s,80s,90s to this
century, be it Prog, Punk, Metal, AOR, Indie and beyond.

In recent years, as well as responding to the global audience demand
for these genres, Raiders has also reflected the growing interest in
Jazz and World music with specialist shows. Our presenters are
volunteers who play music from their personal collections as well as
the station’s growing music library. They are not governed by rigid
playlists like the mainstream stations but play music within their own
remit and the tastes of their respective audiences. Requests are played
at the discretion of each presenter and from their chosen music show
style. (This avoids repetition of the same old tracks). This freedom
makes Raiders one of the most original among online music stations.
This is Not merely a rigid format ‘pop station’ nor is it a just a
‘rock station’. It has never been either of those. To sum up our music
policy in the broadest terms, it is Alternative, Rock and Pop: Raiders
