Wandsworth Deputy Labour Leader and Cllr for Tooting Furzedown Leonie Cooper has been selected by Labour to stand in the GLA Assembly Election for 2016. She defeated rival candidate Martin Whelton. Leonie will represent Labour for Wandsworth & Merton. Leonie Cooper who was on the Chris Mitchell phone - in show during the Campaign is delighted with the outcome and hopes to defeat the Conservative candidate next year. Newsraid predicted that Leonie Cooper would win.

The Winner with the biggest amount of votes is  MP Sadiq Khan who will represent Labour in next years GLA Mayor Election 2016. Sadiq polled more votes from Labour Party Supporters to his nearest rival Tessa Jowell. Dame Tessa Jowell was expected to become the first Labour Women to contest next years election.
