BROADCASTER TERRY WOGAN DIES: 1938-2016

Terry Wogan the Nations Favourite has died after a short battle with Cancer at the age of 77. He hosted the Breakfast Show on Radio 2.  He cleverly ridiculed & beat Radio 1 listening figures for many years until he left to make way for Presenter Chris Evans.

His career  started in Ireland where he was a Broadcaster with RTE. From there he got a job on the BBC Light programme later- on Radio One. In 1972  after a short stint as the Blarney Irishman on the Pop channel went over to Radio 2. He later got the Breakfast show and never looked back. He took on the Eurovision Song Contest as BBC’s official Presenter and revolutionised the funny side of the Eurovision Contest. In the 80s left the Breakfast show on Radio 2 to host a chat show on BBC 1. Later he went back to the Breakfast show on Radio 2 and was the main presenter to help popularise Children in Need for BBC TV.

But the main point to his achievement was that he was really good at communicating to the listeners and identifying what and how people felt about themselves. His wonderful chat to the person in the Street and his devotion to Charity Front Children in Need helped get people to give untold donations. This made him a household name.

We will miss him and his sense of humour.
