Raiders Profile: Newsraider Molly McCowan!

Hi my name is Molly McOwan and I’m 18 years old from the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire. I am a voice over artist and have done many voice overs for companies such as Disney, MTV, BBC etc. I really enjoy voice work and love being in the studio.

I am also a Kate Bush tribute act which is my main focus at the moment, I am a huge Kate Bush fan and she has been the biggest influence in my music with the tribute band and separate to that in the other projects I have going on. The tribute band has been a very long on going thing we now have a full band of very talented musicians and are focusing on making a show-reel, our aim is to get the music as close to the original as we can, we want to do Kate Bush’s music the justice it deserves. We are also focusing on choreography and costumes at the moment which is all great fun as i get to dress up in trench coats and hats for “them heavy people” and top hats and tail coats for “strange phenomena” as well as loads more of great costumes.

I’ve been working on a few other projects on the side to the tribute band, Tristan and myself have just started a acoustic duo covering all kindsof songs and writing originals. Our first gig is at the beginning of January.

I also started an original five piece folk/rock band, we’re modeling ourselves on Fleetwood Mac sharing out the singing between three of us which should make us more versatile.

I have four big musical inspirations all of which have influenced certain aspects of my life they are; Kate Bush, Stevie Nicks, Ann Wilson and Nancy Wilson. I’ve been lucky enough to see Fleetwood Mac and Kate Bush live but sadly haven’t seen Heart as they’re not touring the UK I would really love to see them as the whole reason I started playing guitar is because of Nancy Wilson. I am totally in love with my guitar and am constantly playing it, I have the calluses to prove it ha ha!

I think the first Heart song I heard was crazy on you absolutely awesome track and Nancy’sguitar intro gave me goosebumps so I thought i have to learn how to play that. I also really admire Ann and Nancy Wilson as being women in a rock world can not be easy. I love everything they stand for and there music is just amazing. I’ve alwaysbeena big Fleetwood Macand Stevie Nicks fan one of the first albums I remember my mum playing is Rumours and Rhiannon was my favorite track, I’m very much into the witchy vibe and I try to style myself on Stevie as she has fantastic style. I also play tambourine in the band which i started playing after seeing Fleetwood Mac, I don’t think people give the tambourine enough credit because if you play it badly then it sounds terrible.

I really like unique artists and Stevie Nicks, Kate Bush and Heart are all incredibly unique. There are so many artists that

I love, Led Zeppelin, Joni Mitchell, The Doors, Simon and Garfunkle, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Jefferson Airplane,Bob Dylan, Cream, David Bowie, Elton John, Eurythmics, Kansas, Jethro Tull, Janis Joplin, The mamas and papas. I could go on forever.

Besides music I love movies and one of my favorite actresses is Goldie Hawn, I do yoga quite regularly and meditate.I have just started reading tarot cards and oracle cards, I love walking and dogs, I have miniature schnauzer called Pebbles she is my baby haha I love to paint and I am a vegetarian. That is pretty much me 🙂
