Remembering Lew Helyes

A Giant Amongst Men.

When we heard that Lewis Helyes had passed away, everybody who knew

him and were associated with Raidersbroadcast were deeply shocked.

Raiders Presenters Chris Mitchell, Peter Andrews Jerry King, Jan Kooper,

Mike Summers & Madalyn Morgan expressed their sadness at such a loss.
Lewis was a very talented canvas and watercolour Painter and Musician

who excelled in these fields to local acclaim in and around London. He

also appeared on Raidersbroadcast shows with notable Presenters

Adrian Lacey and Jan Kooper, playing Harmonica and Classical Guitar on the

World-Wide Web with Raiders fm Live.

His interest in the Arts and his detail for great works, got him

invited to paint at galleries in London. This is where he practised

his painting skills, which later made him a notable figure with tourists

and art lovers. Lewis also had some of his works commissioned and shown

in galleries around the Capital.

As a Musician, Lew played in cafes and bars locally to great acclaim.

But it was his Political ideals that made him a man of social

awareness. His ideals made him stand out from the usual crowd. He was

also a deep seated Socialist with iron convictions that attracted

various people to him. He was a champion for the down trodden and

ordinary man in the Street, he once told me. He shunned the

establishment and class structure that was still a part of the UK.

Lewis Helyes leaves a both wonderful bright and talented daughter and

son, Louisa and Perran.
